Language spoken in East Asia.
In this unit, we will focus on the final project of our course: a self-introduction in Japanese. This project will allow you to showcase the skills you've acquired throughout the course, including vocabulary, grammar, and conversational skills.
Your self-introduction should include the following information:
Personal Information: Start with your name and where you're from. Remember to use the appropriate honorifics. For example, if your name is John Smith, you would introduce yourself as "Smith John desu" (スミス・ジョンです), following the Japanese custom of saying the family name first.
Occupation: Share what you do for a living. For example, if you're a teacher, you could say "Kyoushi desu" (教師です), which means "I am a teacher."
Hobbies: Talk about your hobbies or interests. For example, if you enjoy reading, you could say "Yomu koto ga suki desu" (読むことが好きです), which means "I like reading."
Reason for Learning Japanese: Share why you're learning Japanese. This could be for work, travel, or personal interest. For example, you could say "Shigoto de Nihongo o tsukaeru you ni naritai desu" (仕事で日本語を使えるようになりたいです), which means "I want to be able to use Japanese for work."
Practice Your Pronunciation: Make sure to practice your pronunciation. Remember the specific sounds of Japanese and the rhythm of the sentences.
Use Appropriate Politeness Levels: Remember to use the appropriate level of politeness. In a self-introduction, it's generally best to use the polite form (-masu form) of verbs.
Use Gestures: Japanese people often use gestures when speaking. For example, you might bow slightly when introducing yourself.
After your presentation, you will receive feedback on your pronunciation, grammar, and overall fluency. This is a great opportunity to understand your strengths and areas for improvement.
Remember, the goal of this project is not to be perfect, but to showcase what you've learned and to communicate effectively in Japanese. Good luck with your final project!
Good morning my good sir, any questions for me?
